We always teach proper and common Chinese words on our Chinse blog. But today, we thought you might want to know a bit of Chinese bad words. These are some words that teachers don\u2019t teach, yet the Chinese use them very often. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is essential to learn some insults, so people don\u2019t take advantage of you. And yes, so that you can throwback to them who are misbehaving on you! Let\u2019s dive in!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Less Offensive Bad Words in Chinese<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We\u2019ll start with some of the less offensive bad words. They are not that rude, but enough to express your emotions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. \u6211\u53bb (w\u01d2 q\u00f9)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

\u6211(w\u01d2) means me, and \u53bb(q\u00f9) means to go. It is just ordinary words literally, meaning \u201cI\u2019ll go.\u201d For instance, you mean \u201cI am going shopping\u201d when saying \u6211\u53bb\u8d2d\u7269 (w\u01d2 q\u00f9 g\u00f2u w\u00f9). However, it means \u201cshit\u201d or \u201cdamn\u201d if you say them in a higher pitch. People use it to show anger, excitement, or shock. The higher pitch also expresses stronger emotion. \u9760(k\u00e0o) means to rely on or lean on something. For example, it means \u201cI lean on the wall\u201d when I say \u6211\u9760\u5728\u5899\u4e0a(w\u01d2 k\u00e0o z\u00e0i qi\u00e1ng sh\u00e0ng). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

But changing the tone of \u6211(w\u01d2) could also indicate an angry or excited expression with this word. \u6211\u9760 (w\u01d2 k\u00e0o) means \u201dholy shit\u201d or \u201cfucking awesome!\u201d. It is the less offensive version of \u6211\u808f (w\u01d2 c\u00e0o). You can use \u6211\u9760 (w\u01d2 k\u00e0o) if you want to express your emotion in a less vulgar way. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. \u5e72 (g\u00e0n)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

This is a polyphonic and multi-meaning word. It can mean dry, doing something, and other meanings when combined with other characters. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is also a straightforward and good word to show how you feel. \u5e72! (g\u00e0n) is similar to \u201cfuck\u201d in English. It is especially useful when things don\u2019t turn out how you wanted or if you had a bad day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Weird, but yes. Though we\u2019re unsure of the origin, eggs play a significant role in Chinese curse words. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. \u6eda\u86cb  (g\u01d4n d\u00e0n)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

\u6eda(g\u01d4n) means to roll, and \u86cb (d\u00e0n) is the eggs. Literally, it means to roll the egg. But why?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Chinese, we use \u6eda\u86cb  (g\u01d4n d\u00e0n) to ask someone to \u201cfuck off\u201d or leave you alone. You can also say \u6eda\u5f00 (g\u01d4n k\u0101i) or simply \u6eda(g\u01d4n) with the same meaning. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

5. \u7b28\u86cb (b\u00e8n d\u00e0n)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Combine with the word \u7b28(b\u00e8n),  \u7b28\u86cb (b\u00e8n d\u00e0n) means stupid egg. It is somehow funny but straightforward. People use this to call someone a fool, moron, or idiot. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

6. \u738b\u516b\u86cb (w\u00e1ng b\u0101 d\u00e0n)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

In Chinese, we mean tortoise when we say \u738b\u516b (w\u00e1ng b\u0101). So, \u738b\u516b\u86cb (w\u00e1ng b\u0101 d\u00e0n) is indirectly insulting their parents or ancestors being \u738b\u516b (w\u00e1ng b\u0101). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In fact, \u738b\u516b\u86cb (w\u00e1ng b\u0101 d\u00e0n) means bastard or son of a bitch. You can also say the word \u738b\u516b (w\u00e1ng b\u0101) directly, which is still as mean. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sex-Related Bad Words in Chinese<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

It is common to have sex-related bad words in all languages, like how we say \u201cfuck\u201d or other reproductive systems in English. In Chinese, sex-related curse words are rather vulgar, and you should be careful when using them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

7. \u88c5\u903c (zhu\u0101ng b\u012b)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

\u903c(b\u012b) means force in general, but also has the meaning of the female reproductive system. Chinese people will sometimes use the character \u201cB\u201d to represent \u903c(b\u012b). In this case, \u88c5(zhu\u0101ng) is translated into \u201cact\u201d in Chinese. The word \u88c5\u903c (zhu\u0101ng b\u012b) is used to describe someone being pretentious. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For instance, when someone shows off his new handphone, Chinese people might roll their eyes and say \u4ed6\u53c8\u5728\u88c5\u903c\u4e86\uff01 (T\u0101 y\u00f2u z\u00e0i zhu\u0101ng b\u012b le!)  The direct translation is that \u201cHe is pretending to be a B,\u201d but it actually means he is being pretentious again!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

8. \u725b\u903c (ni\u00fa b\u012b)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

If you\u2019ve read our article Funny Chinese Words,<\/a> you might\u2019ve learned the word \u725b(ni\u00fa), meaning cow. But wait. Cow\u2019s reproductive system\u2026? Is it used to scold someone?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

No! On the contrary, it means \u201cfucking awesome\u201d or \u201ccool\u201d in Chinese. Sometimes, people just use \u725b(ni\u00fa), like \u4f60\u725b\u554a\uff01 (n\u01d0 ni\u00fa a) to praise someone being awesome. The young Chinese people even formed new words of \u201cniubility\u201d or \u201cnewbility,\u201d which means incredibility or awesomeness. They are really \u725b\u903c(ni\u00fa b\u012b)\uff01 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

9. \u4e8c\u903c (\u00e8r b\u012b)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

If you’ve learned Chinese Numbers 1 to 10<\/a>, you’ll know that \u4e8c(\u00e8r) is two. But calling someone \u4e8c(\u00e8r) means that they are hilarious or silly in the Northern dialect. So, when combined with \u903c(b\u012b), it\u2019s a \u201cdouble female reproductive system.\u201d It is pretty rude and is equivalent of a \u201cfucking idiot.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

10. \u50bb\u903c (sh\u01ce b\u012b)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

\u50bb(sh\u01ce) is stupid in Chinese, and hence \u50bb\u903c (sh\u01ce b\u012b) means stupid female reproductive system. It is ruder than the word \u4e8c\u903c (\u00e8r b\u012b), yet still very commonly used. Chinese people tend to shout \u50bb\u903c (sh\u01ce b\u012b) when something goes against their side, or when they are furious.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Family-Related Bad Words in Chinese<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

There are also some other bad words related to Family in Chinese.<\/a> However, you should know there are particular relatives to be used. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Most of these bad words originate from the Beijing dialect. The majority of them are related to females, but you can also find male-related bad words. These words are used to express angry emotions towards others. Take a look at the examples below:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

11. \u4f60\u59b9(n\u01d0 m\u00e8i)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

It means \u201cyour sister.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

12. \u4f60\u5988 (n\u01d0 m\u0101)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

It translates to \u201cyour mother.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

13. \u4f60\u5976\u5976\u7684 (n\u01d0 n\u01cei nai de)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The word means \u201cyour grandmother.\u201d Remember to add \u201c\u7684(de)\u201d for this word.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

14. \u4f60\u5927\u7237\u7684 (n\u01d0 d\u00e0 y\u00e9 de)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

\u5927\u7237(d\u00e0 y\u00e9) is uncle, which is your father\u2019s brother. This word is less vulgar than the female-related bad words since uncle is a further relative. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

15. \u4ed6\u5988\u7684 (T\u0101 m\u0101 de)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

It means \u201cdamn it\u201d or \u201cfucking shit,\u201d with a direct translation of \u201chis mother\u2019s.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

16. \u808f\u4f60\u5988 (c\u00e0o n\u01d0 m\u0101) <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

\u808f(c\u00e0o) means fuck, and when you say it with \u4f60\u5988 (n\u01d0 m\u0101)… I guess you know what it means. This is one of the worst swear words in Chinese. Sometimes, it is written as \u8349\u6ce5\u9a6c (c\u01ceo n\u00ed m\u01ce), which is alpaca or llama in English. Both words have a similar pronunciation, but \u8349\u6ce5\u9a6c seems more polite. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
